What to Expect When You Work with Kerfside
We want to take a minute to get to know a little bit about you and hear your vision! This is an informal conversation that we usually keep to about 15 minutes, and in this conversation we’re going to discuss the basic details of your project which will allow us to determine whether we would be a good fit for each other!
So we’ve had a great discovery call with you and feel confident that we can help you achieve your vision! Now we are going to go ahead and book a showroom / factory visit. The showroom visits are a lot of fun, and this is the time for us to drill a little deeper into the details of your project. We ask that you bring some photographs and rough measurements of your space, as well as any inspirational images that you may have seen online. The showroom visit typically takes anywhere from 30-45 minutes and our goal truly is to add as much value as possible during this meeting. Oftentimes the way we do that is by providing solutions to any of the sticking points you may have in either your design or material decisions. You will have access to things like door and hardware samples as well as view any of the current projects we have in the factory. Depending on the scope, we can even put together some preliminary designs in our software for you.
Now that we have clarity on what you’re looking to achieve, we will draft up some preliminary design options for you to review. Typically this takes a few revisions to get right but we want you to feel confident with the design at this stage and sort through the major details.
Once you love your preliminary design that we have put together with you we can use this design to build your estimate! Since we have this all in our design software, we know pretty accurately how much material and labor will be needed to complete your project. Once we have this prepared, we will schedule a follow up call to review your estimate and answer any questions you may have!
At this point you have some decisions to make. Ideally on this call you say YES let’s do it. You feel comfortable with the details and are ready to move forward with us on your project!
However that may not be the case for you and you will either decline entirely or ask for more time to decide. If you want more time to decide – that’s perfectly understandable! We will ask to schedule a follow up time with you about 1 week from this conversation so that you can provide us with your decision. The purpose of this is honestly, we don’t want to leave this up in the air and end up annoying you with random follow up calls or emails.
We currently require a 50% upfront deposit. By placing your deposit, this makes you an official customer and puts you into our production schedule.
Now that we have agreed to work together and your deposit has been processed we are going to schedule a time for one of our team members to come out and take detailed measurements of your space. At this time, we are accounting for all of the opportunities or constraints that your space allows. Things like if any electrical needs to be rerouted or added, or we need to pivot our design to accommodate windows, doors, hvac, etc…this takes your designs from concept to reality and allows us to tailor your cabinetry to the room for a precise fit. Depending on the size of your project, we are usually in and out of your home within a few hours.
After we have taken your final measurements, we go back to the drawing board and revise our designs accordingly. At this point we work with you to finalize selections for all of the pertinent details of your project such as the overall look, door profiles, the type of wood, hardware and color you want to use, etc…we put all of this into a document for you to sign. The purpose of getting a signed document is simply so that both you and our team feel 100% confident that you are getting exactly what you want, leaving no details unaddressed.
Once we receive your signature on the document, this allows us to order materials and begin scheduling work in the factory! And now, the waiting begins while our team works hard to make your custom cabinetry. We are accessible at any point during the building process and we will update you as we progress.
The wait is over and installation day has finally arrived! When we are about 2 weeks away, we will reach out to find a time that works best for you and schedule your installation. Again, depending on the size of your project, we can typically have everything installed for you in 1 day. Our professional installation team will take great care to protect your home while installing and clean up after themselves once they are done. Nobody wants sawdust in their house so we work hard to mitigate that while we install. Our goal is to provide you with a stress-free experience and a finished product that you absolutely love!
After we have finished your project, we hope to stay in touch with you! Should you have any issues in the future that need to be addressed, you can reach out to us at any time to schedule service!
